April, 1999: Demolition is nearly complete and the General Contractor is mobilizing to begin the construction phase of the work. The building interiors have been removed to the concrete frame and openings for vertical shafts (elevator and stairs) have been made. An exterior hoist which was attached to the building during the demolition phase, will remain in place to deliver materials and workers to the floors until the new building elevator is operable. The window openings have been prepared for installation of reconstructed sashes and frames. The "taking apart" and preparatory work is drawing to a close. Roughing-in of the plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems and the "drying-in" of the building will be the next steps in the project.
